Those who follow me on facebook know I am keen to write a book. However, I am a middle aged woman, wife who works works full time in a job I love and studying for professional qualifications, so I have to fit the writing and reviewing around this like a lot of other people.
I like many others, took the decision to write under under a Pseudonym as I wanted to keep my work and private life separate, Not because I am ashamed of what I do or anything like that but because I am one of those stressy people who do not know how to switch off and also because I wasn’t sure what type of genre I wanted to write. I also have young nieces and nephews, family and colleagues who do not know what I do in my spare time and I didn’t want my life decisions to affect them.
When I am Carrie I am a Reader, Reviewer, wanabe Romance Writer, immersed in the world of romance and writing.
So how did I choose my name? This may sound a little out there, so here goes… when I was younger I went to see a medium and she kept calling me Carrie I told her my real name and she said nope sorry they keep telling me you’re Carrie and that it was I need to call you. When I left the meeting I called my mum and told her what happened, my mum told me I should have been called Carrie after my dad’s mum but she didn’t like the name and gave me her full name instead that was on her birth certificate.
As I took my dad’s grandmother’s firstname I googled author names with surnames from mum’s side of the family tree and the ones I liked were being used (and there were alot) so I double barrelled the surname.
That my friends is how I became Carrie Austin-Malone which is better than the alternative stripper names that my friends came up with.
